Turning 65
Last week (9th November) I was 65 - I’m sure you are thinking - ‘so what’? Well, on my 29th birthday, after months of being seriously ill with Crohns Disease, I woke up expecting to find myself with an ileostomy but the surgeon decided to try a sub-total colectomy instead of a bag. However, the disease spread and about 15 months later I had my ileostomy and it’s no exaggeration to say that I didn’t think I’d make it to 35 never mind 65!
Since then I’ve been extremely lucky in that my Crohns has been in remission and other than a few blockages, some requiring a resection in the early days, I’ve been fine. I’m probably fitter now than I have been for 10 years and I’m working hard to keep it that way. 👍🏻
